Question From: County Councillors Liz Rijnenberg and Chris Walsh Subject: Timescale for replacement of Drains on Free Street Brecon
Question:
The drain system on Free Street Brecon is badly damaged resulting in unacceptable levels of noise especially when heavy traffic hits them. The street is the main throughfare for buses leaving and returning to Brecon Bus Station. In addition, normal traffic including heavy goods vehicles travel over the drains each day. The noise emanating from the broken drains is impacting on the quality of life of residents as their terraced properties vibrate from the noise. In addition, repair work to the drains is no longer effective meaning that residents are continually living with the noise. Furthermore, residents are concerned about the capacity of the drains given a recent bout of flooding and the potential for a further building development on the street which will bring heavy machinery across the drains and more demand on the capacity of the drains. A commitment has been made from PCC to replace the drains with a new system and so can PCC please provide: · Details of when this work will start? · Details of when it will be completed?
Minutes: Response by Head of Service:
Design of the drainage improvements has been completed with amendments incorporated to improve the capacity of the system. Procurement is currently being undertaken and it is anticipated that works will commence and be completed in September. |
