Question From: County Councillor Gareth Ratcliffe Subject: Welsh signage in schools
Question:
It has come as some surprise that Hay CP school has been hit with a bill of £1000 for safety signage on its latest inspection. We have a new school in Hay and yet when inspected by Chubb they have highlighted a number of failures not down to breakages but due to not being instilled in the first.
Can the portfolio hold a meeting with the headteacher, chair of governors and the local representative to discuss who will foot this bill? Will it be the local authority or do you expect the school and its learners to fit the bill for PCC failings.
Minutes: Response by Head of Service:
Thank you for your enquiry around the safety signage bill for Hay on Wye C.P. School.
The Schools Estates Manager – Strategic Property is undertaking enquiries regarding bilingual safety signage for this new school and once this is completed, he will confirm if the safety signage needs to be changed and how this work might be funded. |
