Minutes:

Response by Corporate Director (Economy and Environment):

1.    The track and trace team has a total of eight welsh speakers employed within the team, six full time equivalent and 2 part time.  All of the contact tracing team use a universal script that has been provided by Welsh Government to undertake the tracing calls.  At the start of the tracing call our Tracers and Advsiors ask ‘would you like to continue this call in Welsh’ and if they say yes then a welsh speaking member of staff will call them.   All calls are logged on a central CRM system which identifies if the tracing has been done in English or Welsh.  Since the 10th June 2020 to 18th March 2021 a total number of six calls have been undertaken in Welsh.

2.    Mass vaccination is carried out under the management of Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB).  In order to provide a comprehensive response to both these questions PCC contacted PTHB and asked the question.  The response was that they have one member in the central corporate team that speaks welsh but they do not know how many of their staff are able to communicate with the public in Welsh in the mass vaccination centres throughout the County.
