Question From: County Councillor Roger Williams Subject: Professional workers
Question:
What advice is given to professional workers who seek paid commissions outside Powys County Council?
Minutes: Response by Head of Service:
Any officers seeking work outside of the Council’s direct employment would be asked to comply with section 20.48 of the Council’s Code of Conduct, headed “Taking Other Employment”. The Code of Conduct is within the Council Constitution at section 20.
Section 20.48 states the following and can be accessed by the link below:
Taking Other Employment 20.48 Regardless of grade, whether whole or part-time, permanent, temporary, casual, “relief” or seasonal, you should not undertake additional employment (paid or unpaid) if your proposed additional work either will or has the potential to: 20.48.1 create a conflict of interest; 20.48.2 overlap with official duties; 20.48.3 weaken public confidence in the Council.
