Question from: County Councillor Gareth E Jones Subject: Catchment Area of the proposed New English Medium School following the move to the new site on the Brecon High School Site and qualifying Transport Criteria
Question:
In the response provided by Cllr Charlton to my question in respect to the geographical areas from which children and their parents have the choice of transport to a school which is not their closest school, Cllr Charlton confirmed that “Only in very unique situations are geographical and cultural factors considered” and children are subsequently transported to a school which is not the closest school to their home address.
In the County Council meeting in which a discussion in respect to the future of Cradoc C P was undertaken you stated that transport for children living in the current Cradoc CP school catchment area would be provided to the new English medium School that is proposed to be built on the Brecon High School Site in around 4 years’ time.
As this will not be the closest school to the children’s homes living in Cradoc, Lower and Upper Chapel, Pontfaen, Battle and the other communities in the current Cradoc CP catchment area, what are the Very Unique factors that you have taken into consideration when deciding that they will qualify for free Home to School transport to the new school site?
Minutes: Response by the Cabinet Member:
Catchment maps will not be prepared until the site of the new build for the new primary school in Brecon has been confirmed. Until then, each of the 3 sites / campuses will retain their current catchment maps.
