Question from: County Councillor John Morris Subject: Llanbedr Church in Wales Primary School
Question:
Thank you for your response to my question detailed below. I have shared your response with the school community and they like me conclude that you have not answered the question asked.
In the official PCC press statement, that incidentally has recently been released for a second time, you are referring to Llanbedr Church in Wales Primary School and as such your press statement refers to schools in the area that pupils would be attending should Llanbedr School close. It is important that when official statements are made they are backed up by evidence.
I therefore respectfully request an answer to my original question in order for parents and pupils to make an informed choice. The question is set out below: Following the Cabinet meeting on 9th November 2021 where the proposed closure of Llanbedr Church in Wales Primary School was discussed an official PCC press release was sent out in which you are quoted as saying. “If this school is to close, then the learners would be attending schools that would be better equipped to meet the requirements of the new national curriculum and that could provide a wider range of educational and extra-curricular opportunities.”
Can you tell me which specific schools you were referring to in this area and what evidence you have to substantiate your comments?
Minutes: Response by the Portfolio Holder:
Llangattock was a pioneer school for the new curriculum. They have piloted aspects of the new curriculum and shared this with the cluster of schools. The cluster have worked very well together to share good practice on pedagogy and the new curriculum.
For implementing the new curriculum, Crickhowell primary school have a larger staff and have a lead for each AoLE, whereas in Llanbedr teachers are leading on two or three AoLEs.
