There was no budget allocated to preparing the Powys UK City of Culture 2025 expression of interest. The bid was supported by the Leader, Portfolio Holders, council officers and Powys cultural associates. Officers from a number of services (mainly Culture, Regeneration, Digital and Communications) undertook work on the application and there were no additional staffing costs. The only expenditure was £147 to purchase website domain names, which was met within existing budgets. The council did not anticipate a financial return from a successful bid, benefits were anticipated for the Powys economy, local businesses, residents and visitors to the county.
