Question from: County Councillor Pete Roberts Subject: Improving access to online meetings
Question:
In recent days I have received
a number of requests from constituents
asking how they can access online meetings. Many found current information hard to find or were
unaware of the option.
1) A listing of each committee meeting where there is online access 2) A link to the agenda 3) A link to the live stream of the event
Minutes: Response by the Portfolio Holder:
Thank you for the question. I have discussed this with the Communications and Democratic Services Teams and propose a weekly generic social media post that takes people directly to the Calendar of meetings on the public website: Calendar of Meetings
In this way, people will see the meetings that are taking place that week / month and if there is a particular meeting they are interested in, they can click on it and it will take them directly to that agenda / documents and the link to view it online.
Listing the meetings taking place each week is problematic on Twitter as we are limited to 240 characters and a test following your suggestion for a week’s meetings was over the limit by almost 200 characters.
The generic approach will also mean that the Council will not miss out any meetings in the listing in error or include a particular committee that has been cancelled as this site is regularly updated.
