Question from: County Councillor Gareth Ratcliffe Subject: Community Renewal Fund PDF 106 KB
Question:
Thank you for your email to members dated 4th of May 2021 for Powys county council community renewal fund. This will be a very important pot for communities in Powys to help them develop and hit the council's vision for 2025. With this in mind does the portfolio agree with me that a closing date of 17th May is not realistic for community groups to build and submit an application that will benefit the residents of their community and Powys?
Minutes: Response by the Portfolio Holder:
The timescales for applying into this fund have been extremely tight, as you suggest but unfortunately this is what has been imposed on us by UK Government. We were expecting that any applications we receive would relate to project ideas that were very much already in development, rather than organisations desperately trying to come up with ideas to fit the funding from scratch.
Every local authority has to submit their shortlist of applications to UK Government by 18/6/21, however, we need to allow time to appraise all applications against the UK Government Gateway criteria, for the application & appraisal forms to be reviewed by an internal projects board and for the cabinet to endorse any decisions regarding the shortlist in their meeting scheduled for 15th May. We have managed to allow a 4 week period for applications to be developed and submitted for consideration.
I have attached a list of application deadline for all local authorities in Wales and you will see that Powys has taken the middle ground as regards to deadlines.
