Question from: County Councillor Stephen Hayes Subject: Notification to ward members of material changes in planning applications
Question:
It appears that material changes to planning applications, made between submission and determination, (eg from two dwellings to one, or changes in access), are not routinely notified to ward members, who consequently do not have an opportunity to amend their consultee comments.
Will you put in place a protocol to ensure that such notification does take place?
Minutes: Response by the Portfolio Holder:
When amendments to planning applications are received, further consultation is undertaken by the Planning Service where appropriate and in line with regulatory requirements. All amendments to planning applications are uploaded to the Council’s planning application website and I confirm that work is in progress by the Service to introduce a registration system to enable anyone interested in a particular application or to applications that might be received within a defined area to receive notifications by email when new documents are uploaded to the website. All members will be informed of this facility when it is available.
