How is the Council and its Community
Partnership working to tackle drug related and violent crime?
Minutes:
Response by the Portfolio Holder:
- Under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 there is a statutory
requirement to hold regular multi-agency strategy groups to tackle
Crime and Disorder, as well as other statutory duties – this
is the Community Safety Partnership (CSP).
- In
relation to Drug related and Violent Crime:
- There is a Regional (Dyfed-Powys) Serious Violence and Organised
Crime Board – attend by a range of partners, including the 4
Dyfed-Powys CSP managers, principal officers from Local
Authorities; Area Planning Boards; Health boards; etc.
- There is a Local Serious Violence and Organised Crime Board
– this sits under Powys CSP and is attended by Police;
Health; Local Authority Safeguarding Leads; Housing; Probation;
Fire; Area Planning Board representative (the Area Planning Board
has the remit of Substance Misuse); the 2 local drug & alcohol
service providers.
