Hwb use in Powys

Question To:

County Councillor Phyl Davies

Portfolio Holder for Education and Property

Question:

Schools are reporting significant variations in the use of Hwb to access online learning across Powys and likely attendance at school later this month.

Could the Portfolio Holder please publish a list of the percentage of pupils broken down by School who have accessed HWB for online lessons:
a) at least once since lockdown started
b) at least once each month since lockdown started.

Could they also publish the percentage of children at each school whose parents have requested a space at school when they reopen in the survey that ended last Friday and also the percentages of pupils at each school not attending due to shielding reasons.

Response by the Portfolio Holder:

Please see response below re logins and please find the respondent to return to school in the pdf attached.

I have drawn together information as requested for each school.   The data is from November 2019, March 2020, April 2020 and May 2020.  It calculates the number of logins rather than the number of pupils.  However, it only counts the number of logins through HWB.  If schools use their own systems, networks or applications outside HWB we cannot account for these.  For example, many of the high schools have their own learning platforms.

For the actual months across Powys the number of logins were:

Nov 2019 – 49,468 logins

March 2020 – 129,206

April 2020 – 133,506

May 169,720
