Question from: County Councillor Pete Roberts Subject: School transport PDF 138 KB
Question:
In
Cabinet on the 9th June Cllr Alexander stated “We no longer
need to drive children to choice they do have choice, they can
access locally all be it not in the traditional way”
Minutes: Response by the Portfolio Holder:
1. Post 16 college and course 2019/2020 see table below. As the Transport Service took over the administration of the budget in April 2019, the Transport Service do not have data for previous years. Please note, this only provides numbers of those who apply for transport costs from PCC. There will be more learners from Powys attending colleges outside of Powys where (for example) the college provides their own bus service.
2. We do not hold records of learners who live in Powys and their parents decides to attend a primary or high school over the border as we generally don’t provide transport – unless it is their nearest school. The only out of county schools we provide transport to are: · Bishops Castle Community College (from Churchstoke) 53 learners · Lady Hawkins (Kington) for learners from Gladestry / New Radnor 22 learners · Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera (Welsh medium) 51 learners · The Marches (Oswestry) 16 learners
