Question from: County Councillor Matthew Dorrance Subject: Free school meals/Digital exclusion
Question:
Some supermarkets will only accept the Free School Meal vouchers on a smart phone. This excludes families who may not have a smart phone. What will the Council do to ensure no one is excluded from using their vouchers?
Minutes: Response by the Portfolio Holder:
When vouchers are redeemed online they can either be used on a smart phone (using the bar code to scan at the till) or the voucher can be printed off and used in store that way. We have had a few parents contact our team to say that they do not have a smart phone or a printer and we have arranged that their vouchers are emailed to their child’s nearest hub school and printed vouchers were collected. The alternative, which we have had many requests to do is for parents to contact our team and ask for BACS payments instead of vouchers. |
