Warm Banks Minutes: Nigel Brinn, Executive Director Economy and Environment PCC, and Andrea Mansfield, the Economic Development lead for PCC, gave an update on the Council’s response to the cost-of-living crisis.
• A Warm Spaces press release had been issued on 15th September asking for expressions of interest from organisations willing to provide a warm space. To date there had been 35 responses. • £1m funding for Warm Spaces had been announced by First Minister on 29th September. • A webpage was currently under construction and partners were asked to forward any links so these could be added to the page. • A map showing Warm Spaces and Food banks was currently under construction.
The Council welcomed any suggestions and support from partners and would look to work with them to avoid duplication. It was suggested that informal food networks and healthy food supplies should also be mapped out.
The Council was seeing an increase in the numbers of requests for support from residents and businesses. PAVO reported a 40% increase in queries to Citizens Advice about debt related to the costs of living crisis.
Meredid Bowley from PTHB shared a diagram mapping out the impacts of the cost-of-living crisis on individuals and on communities more broadly.
The Council would like to discuss what co-ordinated action could be taken with the strategic partners to feed back to the meeting on 14th October.
