Consultation on Draft Statement of Principles, Gambling Act 2005 PDF 94 KB To consider the responses received from the consultation. Mr Paul Edmunds, Compliance Manager, Gambling Commission will attend the meeting. Additional documents:
Minutes: The Committee noted the one comment received on the draft Statement of Principles, Gambling Act 2005, received during the consultation period. This had been received from the local Gambling Commission compliance officer and the changes had been made to the draft Statement.
Paul Edmunds advised that the Statement was similar to that used by other authorities across Wales. He stated that extra conditions are added by authorities to reflect local issues. As an example he advised that in areas such as Cardiff and Swansea, conditions requiring betting shops to have extra staff on duty for big events, such as rugby matches, are included.
The Senior Licensing Officer advised that inspection visits are made to the seven betting shops in Powys and these are undertaken with the local Gambling Commission compliance officer. Officers complete a pro-forma during the visit. She advised that she had a copy available for Members for their visit to the local betting shop after the meeting.
Paul Edmunds provided the Committee with an overview of the Gambling Commission’s work in respect of both terrestrial and on-line gambling.
The Chair thanked Paul Edmunds for his attendance and noted that he would be joining the Committee on its visit the local betting shop. He also thanked the officers and the Committee for their attendance.
Following the formal meeting the Committee undertook a visit to a local betting shop.
